Let Sage Cottage 406 be your Vacation Getaway

Our cottage is located on our small farm in the Heart of the Bitterroot Valley, Montana. The house was built exclusively as a vacation gateway and is the perfect setting for people who want to enjoy peace and serenity, a couples retreat, or a small family getaway to enjoy all the beautiful things the Bitterroot Valley has to offer. This serene setting overlooks Hamilton and is close to hiking/biking trails and lots of rivers and wildlife to enjoy; great for scenic drives.

The cottage privacy yard has spectacular views looking over the Bitterroot Mountains range, 7 miles from Hamilton, Montana; Sage Cottage 406 has its driveway with a large parking lot, fire pit, hot tub, privacy yard, and modern convinces like a washer/dryer, free Wi-Fi, two smart TVs, and all new appliances and complimentary handcrafted soaps made from ingredients on our organic farm like lavender, roses, and honey.

Less than 10 miles away is the Bitterroot River; it has over 100 miles of Blue-Ribbon trout water, excellent for fly fishing. The night sky for stargazing is brilliant; Bill has a couple of telescopes set up for astrophotography from our backyard.

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, silverware, and utensils; it has an electric stove, Instant Pot, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, espresso maker, toaster, cookbooks, and supplies in the pantry. It is stylishly designed with Italian ceramic tiled backsplash and glass drawer pulls Bill blew in our glass studio.

A full-size washer and dryer are just off the kitchen, with complimentary laundry soap.

The bedroom is warm and inviting, with a comfortable queen-sized bed, latté colored walls, espresso lamps, and chocolate blackout curtains. Along with the 40” smart TV, it has a writing desk equipped with writing paper, Sage Cottage cards, coloring pages for the young and young at heart, and colored pencils. We hung one of our favorite prints from Tim Cox above the bed named “Just for the heck of it.”

The living room has a futon that folds out to a queen-size bed for extra guests. The dining room table is tall with tall chairs to better see the windows and enjoy the views. A smart TV is on the wall between the living room and kitchen swivels to be watched from the living room or the kitchen.

The full-size bath comes with complimentary soaps handcrafted by Rae using ingredients from their farm. It includes an inviting tub with a pebbled beach tile on the floor and Tuscan-type tiles on the walls. A linen closet supplies extra towels, linens, games, and puzzles in the bath. We have our hand-blown glass drawer pulls on the cabinetry adding to the artistic elegance.

This cottage has a private driveway and entrance with a digital keypad on the front door. 360-degree views can be enjoyed from this location, with the kitchen window looking out to the Bitterroot Mountains and the living room windows viewing the Sapphire Mountain range.

We designed this house to have free Wi-Fi and installed two flat screens / smart TVs; people staying can enjoy complimentary Netflix and network channels or stream music. The TV in the bedroom has a wireless soundbar that connects to handheld devices.

Next to the cottage is a fire pit and a private area with a view of the Bitterroot Mountains. Behind the cottage is a hot tub that is always warm and ready with spectacular views of the night sky or Bitterroot Mountains. It is a beautiful place to enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise and listen to the birds sing and chatter.

The cottage is cleaned by a chemical engineer, Rae, leaving no trace of DNA behind. Sorry, no pets so that we can keep the place dander-free. Our home is on the same property, and we love to meet our guests and respect their privacy.

For our tiny human guests/kids, the cottage has a Graco pack-n-play and booster seat with a tray. The seat straps to one of our chairs fit ages six months to 4 years. We also offer wall plugs for those who would like them to add extra protection. The cottage has a rocket ship tent for kids to play in. Even with all the best childproofing, we still ask that all tiny humans/children be supervised. One of the funniest things we have found kids like about staying at our cottage is chasing our free-range chickens. We encourage this; the old girls need their exercise, so please feel free to give them a chase.

Bill and Rae Grout are glass / Steampunk artists who live on this small farm overlooking the Bitterroot Mountains. Building the cottage was their ultimate art project; “we built this house specifically as a vacation getaway using our blown glass cabinet knobs, artesian tiles, and elegant touches”.

About Bill & Rae

We are full-time artists with extensive backgrounds in the high-tech industry, which helps us with the technical aspects of our artwork and glass blowing. We love to incorporate science into our functional art pieces.

Our small organic farm overlooks the Bitterroot Mountains with several buildings dedicated to our work-from-home lifestyle. The Steampunk Shop is Rae’s creative space; the Torch Shop is where we blow our glass, and the Big Shop is for general mad science and Bill’s electronics lab.

Since 1993, our work has produced glass art, including hand-blown contemporary marbles, hummingbird feeders, and Pixie Orb ornaments.

We are spreading love and harmony – one piece of art at a time.
